Hi! I am a third-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) student. In my spare time, I’m an avid reader and runner. I’m super excited to represent my cohort on the teaching and learning committee - if you have any concerns or just want to say hi, please don’t be afraid to reach out!

I am a first-year Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice student. As an international student, my experience at the university has been an exciting journey filled with countless learning opportunities. The university has offered me an engaging environment where I’ve had the chance to learn from distinguished professors, connect with peers who share similar interests, and forge connections with people from diverse cultures.
One of the main reasons I chose to become a student representative is my genuine desire to assist fellow students. Transitioning into university life, leaving behind the familiarity of home, and embarking on a journey miles away can be overwhelming. Therefore, I strongly believe in establishing a secure and welcoming space for students where their concerns can be voiced and respected.
As a fellow student, I’m here to advocate for our needs. Please feel free to reach out to me with any concerns or suggestions for improvement. I’m committed to representing the student body and working towards positive changes that enhance teaching and learning experiences at UQ.

I'm a third-year student Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) student here at UQ. Student representation is so important to ensure our concerns are heard and addressed in order to improve the overall student experience. So far, my time here has been great, and I've enjoyed involving myself in as many things as possible. Speaking of, this is definitely my biggest piece of advice to other students - which is to make the most of your time here at uni by taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Feel free to reach out to me with any concerns!

I am in my 1st year of the MPIP program. I completed my Bachelor of Science, Majoring in Medicinal Chemistry at The University of Canterbury in Christchurch NZ. Throughout my entire university experience, I have been very passionate about enhancing the learning experience for myself and my fellow students. I want to help create clear channels of communication between students and lecturers to help advocate for curriculum, assessment, teaching and all aspects of the MPIP program. I look forward to working with my fellow peers to help improve the MPIP course, not only for us but also for future students.

Hi there! I'm thrilled to introduce myself as your fellow student representative for the Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice program. Being from the United States, I have a background in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, having earned my Bachelor's degree in the field.
Before coming to UQ and delving back into academia, I spent considerable time working in a pharmacy setting, gaining invaluable firsthand experience. This journey has motivated me to travel across the Pacific to learn about both the theoretical and practical aspects of pharmaceutical industry and sciences in this program.
As a first-year student in this program, I am deeply passionate about enhancing the learning experience for current and future students. I firmly believe that collaboration and constructive feedback are essential for fostering a supportive academic environment. With this in mind, I am committed to advocating for initiatives that promote student engagement and overall program improvement.
Feel free to reach out to me anytime with your questions, concerns, or even ideas. I'm here to listen and support you throughout your time here. Whether you prefer to connect via email, text, or meet up over a cup of coffee, I'm available to chat!

As an international student, my journey has been adventurous yet fulfilling, etched with unceasing learning from various experts, connecting with new people with differing backgrounds and stories, and exploring new cultures and places. I am a Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice (MPIP) student currently in 2nd semester. By virtue of being an international student, I also share the challenges of staying away from one’s comfort of home and family and blending oneself in a whole new socio-cultural environment. I am confident in my ability to serve as the bridge between my program cohort and the management to enable a conducive and inclusive environment for students – an environment where the voices of the students are heard and aptly considered regardless of their magnitude.

I am a first-year Master's Student at UQ studying pharmaceutical Industry Practice. Choosing to become a student representative stem from my sincere desire to support other students. I am driven to participate in this committee and provide students a voice in order to advocate for enhancements to the student experience, particularly with relation to clinical placements, learning, exploring and assessment and moreover in different student services. Please get in touch with me with any issues or recommendations for enhancements; as your peer, I am here to speak out for our needs and always there for students. I’ll try my hardest to speak for the student's interests and advocate for improvements to UQ’s teaching and learning in the future.

I've often gone down the rabbit-hole of wondering if the students and professionals from the healthcare sector are mostly focused on providing service and making our world a better place with very less regards towards self and conclude them with the notion that the best versions of us will make the process more efficient and effective. This drove me to be a part of the support system which enables us to move towards the better end of it.
On that note, I'm Venkat, a final year Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice (MPIP) student serving as your student representative across the committees for the academic year 2024. Being part of one of the best universities in Australia and the world has been motivating me to keep our standards high and in line with our pride (it's not bragging if it is true) and our team is here to be the voice for any and all of your concerns and suggestions to have the best possible student experience for us and prospective students to come. This is our safe space where all the concerns, comments, suggestions and feedback will be heard without any judgement. So, take your time and reach out to any one of us. Cheers!

Hello everyone! I am a second-year pharmacy student and an international student from Singapore. My journey in healthcare began with me graduating with a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science in Singapore, where I gained valuable experience in the field. My interest in becoming a student representative in UQ stems from my desire to further contribute to the community. As a student representative, I want to advocate for the needs and interests of my fellow peers, foster a supportive environment and actively participate in shaping the educational landscape for everyone. I am always available to have a chat, so please feel free to reach out via email to discuss any concerns or ideas!

E-mail Danial
I’m a final-year pharmacy student with a deep passion for understanding psychopharmacology and toxicology. My journey in pharmacy began with a desire to understand the intricate interplay between medication and the human body, particularly the mind. Having navigated the challenges of adapting to university life in my first year, I know firsthand the importance of having a voice and being heard. It’s crucial to have an outlet for concerns and feel supported, rather than ignored, in order to maintain mental health and well-being. Therefore, I strive to break down the barriers between students and faculty, advocating for open communication and a supportive environment for all.

I am a 3rd year pharmacy student who moved to Australia in 2013. I am a passionate individual who loves to expose new avenues in this industry especially in drug design and compounding. I joined this degree after doing 1 year of Biomedical Sciences at UQ, because I was looking for a more practical degree and pharmacy was the one. As a student representative, I want to be able to provide as much feedback from the students to the School of Pharmacy in order to create the most productive environment that will aid and motivate students to enjoy their degree. Above all, I believe that students’ voices need to be always considered and implemented for the overall improvement of this degree.
Become a student representative
The School of Pharmacy has a number of committees that are part of the governance of the school.
- Teaching and Learning Committee (T&L)
- Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC)
- BPharm(Hons) & Intern Training Program Committee (BPharm & ITP)
Reasons to become a committee student representative:
- Committee membership is an opportunity to represent your classmates and contribute to ongoing enhancements of the program
- The experience of being part of the School governance will enhance your employability skills.
What does the role involve?
- The role broadly requires you to present your perspective and ideas, and to also sometimes gather the views of your classmates, to inform decision making by the School
- Induction and training will be provided to all student representatives.
- The committees meet monthly between February and November. We appreciate you may not be able to attend all meetings but would welcome your attendance as much as possible. Meetings typically last 1- 2 hours
- If you cannot attend meetings in person, it will be possible to attend via Zoom
- Ideally, we would like our representatives to serve for 18 months, but understand this may be impacted by how close you are to completing your program.
The application process
- Applications for the 2025 student representatives will open in August 2024 and will be advertised via StudentHub.
- In the section asking which committee you wish to apply for, please select “other” and type the name of at least two of the three committees listed above, in order of your preference
- You will be asked to acknowledge that you will abide by the Health and Behavioural Sciences (HABS) Faculty Student Volunteer Code of Conduct by completing a module and quiz; and also that you have read and understood the UQ Volunteers Policy
- Under the question “Unlocking your employability”, the form asks you to provide a 100 word Expression of Interest (EOI) outlining why you would like to be a student representative on your chosen committees and what capabilities you hope to develop in the role. In your response, please also advise what duration of appointment you could complete (i.e. end date)
- Closing date: 30 September 2024
- Successful applicants will be advised in October 2024.
