I‘ve fallen in love with this gorgeous, wonderful campus. The lecturers and tutors are so friendly and open and placements have been really interesting and fulfilling too.

I want to contribute to the healthcare sector by making a positive difference in peoples' lives and studying abroad gives me broader insights about people's wants and needs in their health. I'd definitely recommend study at UQ.

Studying at UQ provides opportunities not only for study, but for developing soft skills and challenging yourself. 

The lecturers at PACE are professionals and experts in their teaching areas. They are from different backgrounds like community and hospital pharmacies as well as industry. They share their experience and prepare us for different work settings in the future. This broadens our perspectives on our careers and really helps us in our learning process.

Sunita is from Peterborough, Ontario but has also lived in Ottawa and says that in many ways Brisbane reminds her of that city. In addition to studying at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sunita works in a local hospital and is also a UQ International Ambassador.

This has been a very busy year! I was very happy to have been given the opportunity to take on the role of an international ambassador, it's rewarding to be working for such a renowned university.

PACE is wonderful because it is a pharmacy specific setting and there is a strong sense of community. UQ offers a lot of help to international students to get settled in and the staff are very friendly and supportive.

Coming to UQ to study was a great decision and if anyone has the opportunity to study here, I would certainly recommend they take it!

I have had the honor to work alongside PhD and Postdoctoral students, as well as some of the most accomplished professors in the field.

I am passionate about working with complicated drug related issues and diseases and highly interested in adopting a career as a hospital pharmacist. 

 After my experiences in the laboratories at PACE I discovered my passion for research. The research project I have undertaken in the Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics Major this year, involves the characterisation of breast cancer cells to identify potential new drug targets and yield a safer and more effective anti-cancer drug. This has been my utmost favourite learning experience and I have had the honor to work alongside PhD and Postdoctoral students, as well as some of the most accomplished professors in the field.

 I have also had the opportunity to partake in a Business Competition for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and this has helped me gain insight into the business side of the pharmacy industry. It was a great experience which I highly recommend. 

 I look forward to the challenges and experiences I will face in the future. Everyone has been friendly and supportive along the way and I have honestly never felt more part of a community than at UQ!”

 Mohamed’s supervisor for the Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics major is Professor Greg Monteith. He says "Mohamed has excelled in his research work as part of his Major in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics. We believe that he has been the first person in the world to start developing a new method to better understand a specific signalling pathway in breast cancer cells. His work will hopefully lead to a new high throughput approach to identify potential new drugs to treat a specific type of breast cancer which currently has a very poor prognosis.

In 2016 Brian was awarded an International Pharmacy Scholarship for academic achievement.

Receiving the scholarship was a great honour and is a major motivator to succeed and do well in the UQ Pharmacy program. It is great to see UQ recognize its students for their achievements and to reward them for their efforts.

UQ is well known in Canada and it recognizes previous studies which was a major deciding factor in choosing to study here. In addition, it satisfied my desire to study abroad and experience a new country.

The lecturers and tutors are one of the best things about UQ. They are some of the highest quality educators I have experienced and they genuinely care about making sure you have a positive learning experience.

UQ offers a great program that incorporates a good balance between practical and theoretical learning, a great learning environment, and great staff to help you through the challenging degree.

The field of pharmacy is changing very rapidly with pharmacists taking on more responsibility when it comes to patients' health outcomes. This, combined with the fact that pharmacists are employed in many different industries means there is an exciting future for the field, one that I want to be a part of.

 I chose UQ because it is one of the top universities in the world and that gave me lots of confidence that I would be prepared for and given what I need to excel in my career.

I once went to a village where the medical clinic is only open once a year and hundreds of people come and queue for hours or even days just to see a doctor. From that time I decided to become a doctor and I picked pharmacy as my undergraduate course as I believe that having a good knowledge of medicine will benefit my further studies in medicine.

Everything at PACE is so new, big and modern. I love studying in the library and talking with lecturers and classmates. I am interested in doing a  Research Scholarship program and also taking other opportunities such as studying SCRIPT (Skills for Communicating and Relating in Pharmacy Training). I am enjoying the pace of life here in Brisbane and this is something I know I would never have experienced if I didn’t make the decision to come here.
