A/Prof Kathryn Steadman is a pharmacy academic and researcher with more than 20 years’ experience. With a background in plant biochemistry and pharmaceutical science she has a research portfolio that stretches from drug discovery to formulation science and clinical practice. Since joining the University of Queensland in 2007, she uses pharmaceutical science to help solve clinical problems. This includes current projects on complementary medicines, smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes, and medication swallowing issues. Her stream of work on dysphagia and the development of products to assist safe medication swallowing for patients in the community involves work with a multidisciplinary team including clinicians, speech pathologist and industry partners. Kathryn has published over 100 peer reviewed publications, and supervised 30 PhD and 30 Honours students.
