Domestic Students

Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens pay postgraduate tuition fees. Some students may be eligible for a Government loan scheme called FEE-HELP. Details can be found at the UQ Fees website. Please note that fees are payable on a semester-by-semester basis.  Click here for information on scholarships and grants available.

If the study in this program is either essential for work, or work related, and is formally supported by the employer, fees and other related expenses (eg books) may be eligible for tax deductability concessions. Further enquiries concerning this should be directed to either the Australian Taxation Office or suitably qualified professional advisors.

Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs)

Please note that postgraduate coursework programs are normally full-fee paying and all successful applicants will initially be offered a full fee paying place (further information on fees is available at here).

We are notified yearly on whether we are able to offer a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) to eligible applicants, for the duration of the program.

Commonwealth supported students will pay approximately half the full tuition fee amount. Only Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who will be resident in Australia for the duration of your unit of study, or the holders of permanent visas who will be resident in Australia for the duration of your unit of study, will be eligible for a CSP.

Please note that since the number of CSPs are limited, it will depend on the number of applications received, as to whether a place can be offered to all students. If the number of applications exceeds the number of places, CSPs will be awarded based on academic merit and professional experience. As such, if you wish to be considered for a CSP, please include the following with your Postgraduate Coursework Application for admission by 30 November:

  • Cover letter, indicating you wish to be considered for a CSP
  • Curriculum Vitae, detailing professional work experience and any publications, conference papers and achievements
  • Certified copy of academic transcript of results (including proof of degree completion), for non-UQ graduates

You will be notified of the outcome of your application for a Commonwealth Supported Place after the closing date for applications.

Please note: All applications received on or before the closing date of 30 November, will be competitively assessed. Any applications received after the closing date will only be considered for a Commonwealth Supported Place if there are any places left.
