Provide an industry placement for a Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice student
The UQ School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences launched the Master of Pharmaceutical Industry Practice (MPharmIndPrac) program in 2019 with consultation from industry and international academics. Students typically join the program after an undergraduate degree in areas such as science, pharmacy, biotechnology, engineering, and medical sciences. The 2-year program focuses on coursework in year 1, covering all stages of drug or device development and the lifecycle management process, from understanding how need drives the discovery process, through pre-clinical development to post-registration surveillance.
In year 2, students may undertake 1 or 2 extended industry placements (3-5 months), which can be intrastate, interstate, international or virtual. Placements can be in any relevant are of the MTP sector, including:
- Clinical Research
- Formulations
- Manufacturing
- Market Access
- Marketing
- Medical Affairs
- Pharmacovigilance
- Production
- Project Management
- QA/QC
- R&D
- Regulatory Affairs
